When you open a DA under MultiFinder, MultiFinder reads in this file (It will be displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen where the application's icon is). I don't know why the DA handler is needed (well, it is to keep applications and DAs in there own seperate memory space instead of DAs running in the applications memory), but if you want to run DAs in multifinder you better have this, or remember to hold down the option key every time you want to use a DA (this causes the DA to be loaded into the memory space alloted to the application which is the only way some DAs will run).
