We are using two NetSerials to provide remote access to our Appletalk network. The remote access is used to both print to a Laserwriter and to transfer files using TOPS. Everything is completely functional. Printing is fairly quick, but file transfer is a little slow (we're running at 2400 baud). It has worked fine under all OS releases, including 6.0. The only reservation I have is that it is not easy to turn it's use on or off on your mac. I.e. you have to turn on Appletalk on your machine and change network configuration from the Control Panel. To go back to a local printing mode, you have to turn off Appletalk, re-select the imagewriter driver, re-select the printer port for printing instead of the modem port, and close down the network. If you aren't going to have to change back and forth, I would recommend it without hesitation. We have transferred files up to ~500K bytes (slowly) without error. Ronald A.
