I used them as background material when I was building amps as an EE undergrad. People have been alluding to adequate "safe operating area" for the output stage ("use 100V power transistors," etc.) without stating it explicitly. The high slew rate, low distortion, 100W per side (into a resistive load on the test bench!) amp that I built my senior year was blown up when I pushed it hard while connected to the transmission line speakers I built the next year in grad school ... beware the inadequate SOA, -- Michael K.
