In the /etc/gettydefs file...It has the ability to change the protocall
baud and other neet stuff to screw up a terminal...

Check that the baud is the same in the entire line.
Each seprator in a getty line means the nect step of the login....
i.e. the first is the login message.. the second is after you have
     logged in.. and the third is when you hangup....

I'll get more info about this in a day or so........
But this is a place to start...
