Add to the list of reasons for letting BYTE subscriptions expire:

The annual Editorial Index disappeared several years ago.  I vaguely 
recall that they were thinking about putting it on machine-readable
media, but I can't remember when they said that.  Perhaps there's
a reference in the annual index.  But there is no annual index.  Catch-22
