It seems the original doesn't know how to handle the xor blocks in VMS Backup. He fixed it so it will and has given permission for it to be on the fall '88 VAX SIG tapes. The full specs of vms backup format are in the VMS docset in version 3 VMS. That description doesn't exist in the newer docset, but the old description is complete and accurate. BTW, Barry's version doesn't USE the XOR blocks; just allows the reader to ignore them. It appears the original reader (from what Barry tells me) was designed for tapes written with /group=0 and possibly for tapes written with /interchange also.
