The server is an Encore Multimax running UMAX 4.2 (close to BSD 4.2). I'm having a bit of a problem with atis and NBP, I think. Atistest runs OK, and atlook finds all the devices on the localtalk net, but if I start a server (lwsrv or aufs) it can not be seen either by the macs on the localtalk, or by atlook. An atis dump shows that the server is registered, but (my guess is that) the name server is not responding to lookup requests. Should atlook see entities registered on the name server? And if it should, any idea why it might not? None of the log files are indicating any errors. Other data: we're only using one appletalk zone, with three appletalk nets for localtalk, ethertalk, and appletalk-in-ip. There are no gateways between the Kinetics box and the multimax. Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. +---------+ Chris Vagnini ++--------+| "As a rule, hackers do not || ENCORE || chrisv@multimax.ARPA handle obsolescence well." -- Opus |+--------++ chrisv@encore.UUCP +---------+ {bu-cs,decvax,necntc,talcott}!encore!chrisv
