The PC that >it is connected to can act as a client to any AFP (AppleTalk Filing Protocol, I >believe is the proper name) server. It does not act as a server... We bought TangentShare right after it came out and had lots of trouble with it recognizing multiple volumes on our AppleShare server. Repeated calls to Tangent (some weren't ever returned) yielded little more than "that shouldn't be happening". Apple's own AppleShare PC product seems much more robust in its implementation. We've run it with no problems from day one on IBM PS/2 Model 25s & 30s, and Zenith 386 machines. I think it was noted in comp.sys.mac that the AppleShare PC only runs on Apple's LocalTalk PC boards - we found this to be true. It doesn't run on Tangent's board. Last year at MacWorld Expo in Boston we took a look at Tangent's product that would turn MS-DOS machines into AppleShare file servers. Supposedly if you had a lot of cheap hard disk IBM clones gathering dust you could utilize them as AFP file servers. This was (is?) a separate product from TangentShare. The name for this product escapes me...
