Is an at-sign better? Note that the CMS NOTE command uses the word 'at' because the at-sign does not travel very well to other countries (remember that the 'I' in 'IBM' stands for 'International'). While it is also true that the English word 'at' may not travel well, either, it is probably a bit more understandable in, say, France than an 'a' with an acute accent. Anyway, that's the rationale.
