How about the one when running rn and expire runs?  Similar garbage....
Fortunately, you can shell out and cp the .oldnewsrc out.  Saves some headaches
as the .newsrc has unsubscribed all newsgroups as bogus....

Sigh.

I run expire at 6:00PM to prevent interference with receiving my nightly news.
