I thought I had sixteen 256k x 1 chips I could install to give me another 1/2 meg until prices come down. However, my chips (originally used for the Amazing Computing internal hack) are 18 pin and the Spirit board has 16 pin sockets. Therefore, I appear to be in the market for some chips. The Spirit documentation says to get 256k x 1 DRAMS. Spped can be either 120 or 150 ns and 16 chips are needed for each bank (512k). Since I've already found (the hard way) that there ARE differences in 256k chips, would anyone be kind enough to confirm that I can order any 256k x 1 chips, as long as I specify 16 pins and 120 or 150 ns speed? Also, ads in Computer Shopper suggest prices are in the $10-$13 range. However, the ads don't indicate the number of pins, just the speed. Can anyone recommend a cheaper/good source? As always, thanks in advance for any help. CMSgt Dave Detert ARPANet: detertlognet2.arpa
