No problems. I have my monitor on a shelf about 6 inches above the cpu (and 5.25 drive) so it's not real close to the 3.5 drive. Its not any noisier than when flat, maybe because I put rubber feet on the side (bottom now) of the drive so it wouldn't slide around. It's on it's starboard side.
