suggestion:
it might be worthwile to get the hardware manuals out and look for that
R/W line in the cable pinout. then take a switch and two LEDs to
construct a little read/write-indicator / write-protect thing.
especially recommended for hard disks !
i'll ask my hardware wizard to work this out, so keep an eye on this
newsgroup.
