HP offers an OCR software for $595, product number is HP 88400A.

It is very difficult to find a good OCR software for a reasonable 
price. Most offers include an number crunching adapter, since
the more versatile software packages would run too slow on
an IBM PC/AT or even 386. 

My diploma thesis is on OCR and it includes an overview of
the products currently on the market.
