How well does Mathematica handle graphing of functions with
discontinuities? For example, what happens if you ask it
to graph 1/x for x between -1 and 1? Can it graph a function
with different definitions over different intervals, as for
example:

       |-
       | 3  if x < 0
f(x) = |
       | x/2  if x >= 0
       |-

Can you work symbolically with such a function without
doing the two pieces individually?
