I'm trying to build my own hard drive system from a Seagate 238R 30 meg drive, Adaptec 4070 controller, and a pre-existing powersupply and case. Sounds easy right? Well, it was until I discovered I had no way of connecting the controller to the Mac. So I got a DB25 -> SCSI Mac cable and figured I could build a 50 pin IDC connector -> 50 pin ribbon cable -> 50 pin female Centronics style connector (ie female SCSI). It didn't sound too difficult since there are no pins to change or anything nasty. So I decided to go that route since I couldn't find the cable I needed anywhere. I have never built a cable before, buy hey, there's got to be a first time. I went to a local electronics store and got everything (this was actually before I got the SCSI cable) I needed, but when I got the SCSI cable, I realized the guy at the store had given me a 50 pin male Centronics style connector (no I didn't look closely to begin with) but they didn't have any female connectors when I went back. Neither did any other store in town. And I can't find any mail order places that say they have them (although I haven't had time to call each one and ask yet). Does anyone who has done this know where I can get the part I need? It doesn't seem that esoteric. Thanks, Adam -- Adam C.
