If you do a RIP query to the net-E address of GW5 it should respond with a metric of 16 for all of GW6's nets, that's the way Split Horizon/Poisoned Reverse works. Are you consistently querying the same IP address for gateways 5 and 6? What does a dump of the routing table from the console show? II) Are you having Ethernet load problems? Are you using p4213/4214 boards and DECnet? If you turn on more tracing do you see RIP packets at GW5 from GW6? Jeff
