Mats (hi there!),

I think what would be of interest to you is the figures that are
published in the Genbank newsletter. They state how many base pairs
were there is release 55, 56, ..., how many new ones were added/revised.

As far as the growth is concerned....folks expect to see greater
increases over the next few years - now that NAR and other journals
will be automating (or at least adding somewhat concurrently) whatever
entries are published.
