Message-ID: <4001@freja.dk> Date: 29 Aug 88 18:00:03 GMT Organization: DIKU, U of Copenhagen, DK Lines: 31 References: I use an Ast Premium/286 with MS Windows and MS Excel. It all worked fine until I tried to install the REXX.SYS that came with Windows 2.03. Before I used Rexx 3.0 but the ms-excutive reported no EMS-menory, strangely enough Excel did (well not to strange because Excel has it own memoryhandler both EMS, EEMS and extended). When I installed the new Rexx (with a strange verion number, something like 3.30.26) PC-tools reported all my memory as EMS, only 640 KB was taken and Windows reported something like 800 KB free EMS. BUT if I ran Excel and took tutorial in the help menu without taking anything else in that menu first, the programme froze. FIX FIX FIX FIX FIX I thought that maybe there wasn't enough process id's for the tutorial to run (maybe taken something else from the help menu cleared som ids, who knows?!). So I changed the /P= (or /pids=) to see if that cleared the problem. It and it didn't; setting p=100 or 256 (I think) worked, but p=150 didn't (I think). Then I thought of the depth; using /d=31 and p=256 worked (Excel reporting 512 (more or less) KB free EMS, less d didn't work on the values I have tried. BUT setting /D=32 workes !!! (Don't set the /p, it only takes up memory (I think)). This way Excel reportes only about 400 KB free EMS but it works (unlike /d=31 and p=256 which had some trouble with my genius mouse).
