This is not where Kermit's strengths lie; Kermit is excellent at transferring files in wierd environments (through cranky data switches, protocol converters, IBM mainframes that speak EBCDIC, satellite links, and combinations of the above). That's why the protocol overhead is so high. I'd still not recommend that you do raw transfers.
