My errors arose from fatootsing with my environment overmuch.  This is evident
from the different spellings I gave for my personal lisp directory in my
original posting (gnu-elisp vs gnu-lisp).  I swear, someday I'll get my
nomenclature straight...  Thank you, Mr. Steinmetz, I believe, for pointing
this out - you were right.
