The newsgroup comp.emacs has existed for years and years and has always been a place for people to discuss emacs in any of its very large number of incarnations. The newsgroup gnu.emacs is very recent, gatewayed with the mailing list info-gnu-emacs@prep.ai.mit.edu, and specific to development and availability issues for GNU Emacs. There is a subgroup gnu.emacs.bugs where people report on flaws and fixes to GNU Emacs. I see no reason why there isn't a comp.vi (or, I think more appropriately, a series comp.editors, comp.editors.emacs, comp.editors.vi), so I suggest you head for news.groups and suggest it if you're sufficiently motivated. --Karl
