I seem to recall >something about that but I cannot remember. I've waited awhile before flaming BYTE, but here goes. I used to love reading Pournelle's column, it was the highlight of my reading the magazine. That love affair ended sometime early this year or late last year, due to some Pournelle bashing on the net. At first I bristled at somebody flaming Jerry, but I got to thinking. Ever since, when I read his column I usually think what a TWIT this guy is. He wouldn't know a decent operating system if it bit him on the ass. I have already made my decision to let my subscription lapse. I get my PC stuff out of PC Magazine (which has its share of jerk-off contributors, read that as Dvorak), but on whole it keeps me abreast of the PC world and I *expect* it to be Messy-DOS heavy. My favorite computer mag now is Unix World. Oh well... the ramblings of another irate Byte reader (soon to be former). Hey Pournelle, stick it in your ear (and you too Dvorak) :-). Now I can't wait to get out of school and earn some money so I can retire this 286 box to running games and buy a *real* system :-). -- John B.
