I can start a RARP daemon on our Sun (4/280 running Sun-OS 3.2) but the PC fails to obtain it's IP address at startup. As far as I know I configured /etc/ethers and /etc/hosts properly (we're not running Yellow Pages yet). I also tried initiating a PC as the RARP server. Another PC then initializes properly (i.e. presumably it obtained it's internet address) but a subsequent TELNET session to a host hangs while trying to initiate the connection. If the second PC uses a hard-coded internet address (installed with the CUSTOM program) TCPIP starts properly and TELNET also works properly. Anyone able to help?
