Before I reinvent the wheel, does anyone have a perl routine to convert
from a time in the form

	08/31/88 22:48

into seconds since the epoch?  The time is in GMT and is from the
news history file.

There seems to be ample builtins to go from seconds since the epoch
to real dates, but not the reverse.
