Seems that Europe is ahead of North America in that respect. ^^ SI refers to the International System d'unite; ISO is the International Standards Organization, which has produced standards on the use of SI, viz ISO 31, ISO 1000. The international standard for the representation of dates in all numeric form is ISO 2014. As far as I am aware, the University of Western Ontario has officially adopted this format for the all numeric representation of dates.
