I really don't know the % of UseNet readers who get all 5 Amiga groups vs those who only receive the 2 message (text) groups. But I think that this might be a good time for the 5th and newest member of the Amiga groups (alt.sources.amiga) to come into play. VirusX does include the source code, and since Peter did start this group to cut down on the lag time, this seems like a perfect match. If you only receive the 2 message groups then read on... >This decision was made far upstream of us, so I'm sure there are lots of sites >that are not getting binary groups anymore. If the decision was made to stop binary groups at your site (or upstream) then posting them to one of the message groups is not the answer but finding a valid alternate method of obtaining those files is. There are quite a few commercial database services that will have these programs (Bix, Plink, Delphi, CIS). And if you don't belong to (or want to join) a commercial service then check into an Amiga BBS. There are hundreds (thousands ?) of them around, most free. It seems like we sometimes forget that UseNet is not the only avenue for us to explore. (Yes "we", even Sneakers is guilty of it sometimes. I think the term for it is lazy :-) >Jeff Wilson -- Dan "Sneakers" Schein {alegra|amiga|rutgers|uunet}!cbmvax!heimat!sneakers Sneakers Computing 2455 McKinley Ave West Lawn PA 19609 Call: BERKS AMIGA BBS 24 Hrs - 3/12/2400 Baud Disclaimer: Any opinions expressed are 40 Meg -=- 215/678-7691 those of Sneakers Computing Of course heimat is an Amiga, doesn't everyone run UUCP & UseNet on an Amiga?
