Well, probably because RAM is more expensive.  C= left the price the same 
until their supply at the old price got used up unlike some PClone makers
who set their current price to the current price of ram chips, even when they
were using old chips!  That pisses me off...  They are just taking advantage
of the consumer, making as much profit as they can.  We should be glad that
commodore doesn't have this prickish policy.  Remember, what does a meg of ram
cost these days?  It would seem that the price increase is only the increase
in ram price.

Disclaimer:  since I don't set the prices, I could be wrong - but it only makes
sense.
