This is directed to tmetro@lynx.northeastern.edu: - - The original note follows - - Date: Fri, 2 Sep 88 10:28 EDT From: "Andy Tefft" Subject: Re: FrEdWriter Files To: In-Reply-To: tmetro AT lynx.northeastern.edu -- Fri, 2 Sep 88 00:29:07 EDT if you read the file on how to make fred, there's supposed to be 3 files with code: fred, fredu, and freds. Fred makes the fred sys file, fred.u makes fred.ulit (that's how it's spelled, nice, huh?) which has the little utilities, and fred.s is supposed to make another binary II file with who knows what in it. there's a menu mentioned somewhere in these files. i assume this is in the fred.s file, because it's not in fred.u. here's 'how to rebuild fredwriter.' - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > Subject: How to rebuild fredwriter > [...] Then create a subdirectory called /FRED. > Exec the file FREDSYS EXEC and save the resulting file in the /FRED ^^^^^^^^^^^^ [87-00215 - ok] > subdirectory. The documentation is contained (logically enough) in > the files DOC A through D. [...] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I assumed that doc a counted as one file, because it probably wasn't split (apparently, from the subject lines) until after he'd already decided there were 7 parts. So we have fred.sys, fredu, doc a, doc b, doc c, doc d - 6 files, not 7. Maybe the files from freds were put in with fredu, in which case we'd need to know which are which. At any rate there's apparently supposed to be a menu program (look at the files in fred.util - they seem to point in that direction) which I've never seen. make sense? I wish i had my apple next to me so i could get some concrete file names for you.
