I got what I wanted! I can return the favor ;) A friend of mine has an Atari ST and he uses the Aladdin/Magic Sac software frequently to emulate a Macintosh. He used to download a lot of Macintosh PD software, but since StuffIt hit the scene as the standard compressing utility, he is out of luck. StuffIt fails to work on both emulators (so I was told). I tracked down the cause of StuffIt's crashes and concluded that the program wants some resources that are not available in the Mac System files that these emulators use. If you want StuffIt to run, you need to get hold of a friend with an original Macintosh, using System set 5.0 or later. Grab ResEdit and copy the following resources from the System file to a new file on disk: CURS (pretty sure you don't need this one, but Justin Case ;) LDEF MDEF PACK Transfer the file to a Magic Disk and copy the resources intito the older system of the Magic Sac/Aladdin emulator. StuffIt should now work like a dream. Now you can download all of that Mac PD software and triple your telephone bill ;) -- Paul Molenaar "Just checking the walls" - Basil Fawlty -
