It makes the ST into a networking UUCP host (i.e. you don't have to just be a leaf node). We are using it locally in Minnesota within a network of about 14 ST's connected to several Unix sites (stag.UUCP for most of us). With the 'cron'-like program that one of our developers wrote, you have pretty much the same functionality for mail and news<->mail forwarding that a Unix system has. Plus UUMAIL can even be polled by a Unix system if necessary, since UUMAIL runs in host mode with normal Unix login/password/Shere prompts...
