You all helped out when I was in dire straights. And the advice offered was correct, too! :-) In short, I reformated under DOS 2.11, and started FRESTOREing again. At the first sign of trouble, I pressed the tilde key (~). FRESTORE went into PATCH MODE and basically ignored its own disk labels and errors (searching forward in the case of errors for the next directory entry). I cut my losses from 2.4MB to only 88Kb. Most importantly though, I got all my data back and it seems to be OK. I think I'll make several backups before I attempt to upgrade DOS versions again.... Again, thanks.
