Most strange - from the description you give, it sounds like the Invisible flag for all files has been turned on. You can use ResEdit to change all the flags (slow and tedious, especially on a hard disk), or you can modify the program given in Tech Note 68 to turn off the invisible bit for all the programs on the disk. (If Tech Notes/programming tools are not available, let me know directly and I'll try to send you the program). (If you have MPW you can probably use the SetFile tool and regular expressions to do the same thing, with less work). The other possibility is that all the files are very far off the screen, but rebuilding the desktop should have fixed this. If the scroll bars are empty on the desktop, the files are invisible; if they are not the files are way, way, way out there. (obligitory warnings) If you do get the files back, tread lightly, as they may not be what you think they are. They should be backed up, the disk initialized, and the files restored, if at all possible. > phil Bob Hablutzel BOB@NUACC.ACNS.NWU.EDU
