It is my understanding that the window manager is a separate client which handles window resizing, window placement, and window movement. Also a client creating a new window needs to negotiate with the window manager for size and location. What mechanisms are used for the client to window manager negotiation ? How do you locate the window manager ? How does the window manager prevent a client from placing a window anywhere it wants? Does it intercept these requests ? I have copies of the online X documentation. Ptrs to the appropriate sections would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ray
