If the Path: already contains a fully-qualified domain name and I therefore don't add to it, then the connectivity information is lost. There might as well be no Path: line. If you need a valid, reachable address for mail, you're supposed to use the From: line. Similarly, you're not supposed to put anything else in a From: line.
