Message-ID: <230@slxsys.specialix.co.uk> Date: 6 Sep 88 09:16:49 GMT References: <16031@onfcanim.UUCP> Organization: Specialix International, London, UK. Lines: 29 In the UK mail to sites outside the uk leaving the country via ukc.ac.uk is billed to the originating site. So to save money we use aggresive routing to send as much mail by other routes as possible. Mail costs money ! We carry mail for third partys on the basis of best endevors delivery. We reserve the right to send it via the lowest cost route (both for us and for the originating site). To this end we have two paths files, one for locally generated (smail) traffic and one for off site (trmail) traffic. There is a case for aggresive mail routing, but the people running the site must keep the maps and software current. On the other site crunched from and to lines are ****ing pain, It seems to be sites running sendmail that are the worst offenders.
