Gnu software is essentially written for machines with 32-bit address spaces and virtual memory. Since MINIX on the PC currently only supports 16-bit split I&D addressing, almost any gnu program would be far too big to fit. MAYBE if someone could figure out a way to break the 64K barrier (we're not even talking the 640K barrier here yet!) then we can start talking about putting GNU stuff up on MINIX. Until then, your best bet is to scrounge up stuff that was written for little PDP-11s running V7.
