In query-replace-string, C-w is undoable by C-u if you don't change more than the single line that contained the match. It gets it a bit wrong if you change more than this, so you might treat this change with a bit of suspicion. I think it's useful in spite of that. (I've applied the patch to fix C-w not deleting before this.)
