Use mail to address specific colleagues.  Broadcasting personal
information to the whole worldwide net is a bit self-centered.

My cat Frankie was really sweet this morning.  He rubbed up against my
leg, and purred and everything.  It made me feel really good.  I just
had to share that special moment with my Amiga friends on Usenet.

Now wasn't that appropriate?  No?  Frankly, I'm glad for you people
with children, but it doesn't really help me appreciate my Amiga.
Maybe you could start up a misc.babies group if the level of interest
and New Year's parties warrants it.  I write this not out of meanness,
but just because I hate to see a trend reinforced, along the lines of
"well another irrelevant posting won't do any harm since there's so
much junk online already".

Tasteless?  Mine is certainly tasteless, but Michael's message was
rather tasteful, and never once used words like, quote, >Buzz off, twit.

Let's all follow bad examples then?  Noise + noise = more noise than
ever.  "Plague" is right.  Sometimes it helps for someone to say "Shh!"
