PC has more software, but Mac II has more interesting programming environments. NuBUS is winning the bus war from where I sit, some IBM PC clone makers may even switch to it to avoid legal hassles. Apple will probably offer Mac ][ to whatever (Mac ][+ 68030?) upgrades. IBM hasn't. Price the software you want to use, that may help you decide. I'm probably more of a Mac fan than PS/2 fan, but Apple already has multitasking, while IBM doesn't. You can get ahold of Apple people on the net, but not IBM types. I'm going to wait until about a month before I leave CMU until I decide. (I don't plan to leave anytime soon.) Maybe the NeXT machine will be available by then.
