From the back of my MacTerminal box "...can emulate IBM 3278, DEC VT100 and VT52... for IBM 3270 communications, you'll need either AppleLine or an Apple Cluster Controller." For grins, I've turned on the IBM mode, and you get this funky pulldown keypad menu with 36 IBM function keys. As I don't have an IBM to talk to, I can't comment on the quality of the emulation. VT-100 emulation is excellent, but I've switched to Versaterm for various other reasons. I know nothing of the required (?) AppleLine or Cluster Controller. The MacTerminal manual says you connect to this at 9600 bps with 7 bits/char, so I'd guess EBCDIC <-> ASCII and possibly some other protocol conversion must be done external to the Mac. I'm unsure of the support status of MacTerminal. I don't believe it was transferred to Claris. The last Apple update was about six months ago to fix MultiFinder compatibility. Apple is somewhat committed to co-existance in the IBM world, so I'd expect them to support MacTerminal. List price is $125. I paid $100. Want to give it a try? My copy (with box, manuals, blank registration card, original disk, latest version) is yours for $49, UPSed anywhere in the US.
