In fairness to the SoftQuad people, if this is indeed the state of affairs,
it might be just a misunderstanding somewhere.  In particular, I'm told
that it is very easy to get the impression that you are dealing with AT&T
as a whole, when in fact you are dealing with only one part of it, and a
part that doesn't know what the other parts are up to either.

One should also beware that there are looooong propagation delays within
AT&T, so the official word today doesn't necessarily correspond to what's
planned for next year.  Even if you're told that it does.
