No, not until servers support the new font naming scheme that is being adopted. Is there a standard set of fonts which will be available on all xlib and server implementation ? no. If a given workstation supports only one hardware font, how will server support multiple fonts? Does the server stroke out the font ? Servers may support as few or as many fonts as they wish (but at least one) and may store and paint them in any manner that conforms to the protocol.
