We use PacBell, and to disbale call waiting all I need to do is to prefix the number I'm dialing with *70. Call waiting will then be disabled for the duration of the call (e.g. when I hang up, call waiting function will resume). This is a rather nice and simply fix. It, however, will not fix problems if anyone is dailing in.
