The UUCP distributed under 4.3 BSD does support 7-bit data paths with
the 'f' protocol.
We used to run UUCP over rlogin 2 years ago with a version
hacked by Rick Adams. It worked without any problems.
We dialled out over a dataswitch to connect to an annex server, then
used rlogin to connect to the desired site. Nothing fancy was
required.
