Our drivers use 3Com's on-board ROM, and don't load any of their own code onto the board. We ship the code with a TCP window of 1024, same as the 3C501. I think that Network Research did a version of their PC product, which does actually load code onto the board. I've never used it. 3Com should be willing to sell you a "3L" library for the 3C505, probably for $995, which contains source for an example driver. I don't think their driver loads code onto the board, but I'm not sure. Driving the board has a number of tricky timing issues, which would be best resolved by looking at someone else's code.
