The top two participants were NMs Roger Phoelmann (2224) & Peter Yu(2211). Some key matchups were Phoelmann-Weiss, 1/2-1/2 (Rd.3) and Yu-Phoelmann, 1-0 (Rd. 4) (the later game's score will be published in a follow-up article.) The final results were: 1. Peter Yu , 4.0/4.0. 2. Seggev Weiss , 3.0. 3. Roger Phoelmann, and several others , 2.5. We're meeting every Wed. night, 7-10 p.m at the MLKJ Student Union building, 2560 Bancroft Ave., Berkeley. There are monthly Swiss open tournaments at a fast time control (30/30, 30/SD). For more details e-mail to me at the address above. On another note, the 6-men round robin NCCA Invitational will continue this weekend, and will culminate next weekend, also in the Student Union building. After 3 rounds, the leader is FM David Glueck, the top-rated student player (2436), having a perfect score. The other players include Mar, Buckely, Rey, Gorman, and Cornelius. I will soon post several interesting games from this tournament as well.
