We leave our IW II on all the time; ie. months at a time.  It is on
our UNIX box. No problem at all.  It is turned off only for routine
maintenance.

In fact, the system manager of this system has heard that dot matrix
printers lasted linger if left on all the time, due to less thermal
cycling especially of the mechanical printhead parts.
