I wanted a hard drive for my Mac SE, and I still wanted to keep my floppy internals. There is a company called CMS who usually make IBM compatible hard-drives, but they also make Mac compatible hard drives now. They mount near the inside back of the Mac SE, and they connect to the internal SCSI (nicknamed "scuzzy") port. In fact, they can rig it so that you can have the SCSI port number be 0 through 6. It does not affect the external expansion port (the computer doesn't look any different on the outside after the drive is installed, except that the computer feels a wee bit heavier.) I have the CMS Pro-30 SE internal hard drive (that's it's full name!) Contact CMS or a local retail outlet. I got a great deal on this drive (30-mb with a 35 ms seek speed -- as fast as some IBM compatible hard drives). It cost me about $550 after installation fee (some retailers can be haggled with), and that is a good deal when you compare it to some other places. CMS makes the Pro-SE series of hard-drives solely for the mac SE, and their sizes, offhand, are 20 mb, 30 mb, 45 mb, 60 mb, 80 mb, and 100 mb. All of them automatically park themselves securely at shutdown except for the 20 mb drive. The drive comes complete with support software. Sorry, but I can't answer your question about the power supply. I'm not an electrical engineer... But I do know that these independent companies make much better internal drives than the kludge the Apple company offers. But Apple does make a great computer, don't they...
