And since you keep saying 'mainframe', that probably means you're in a high-speed-card-punch environment (i.e. IBM machines). I'll let you in on a secret. I've got a window somewhere on my screen that is logged in to our IBM ... If all our IBM's on campus had ether and TCP/IP I'd be able to be logged into each one...
